課程概述 |
(1) 一般常識;General aspects
(2) 抗生素與抗藥性; Antibiotics and antibiotic resistance
(3) 止痛藥;Aspirins and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs)
(4) 使用磷酸化酵素抑制物為新型抗癌藥物; Tyrosine kinase inhibitors as effective anti-cancer therapy
(5) 胃藥;Antiulcer drugs
(6) 抗病毒藥物;Antiviral agents
(7) 降血脂及降血壓藥物; Case studies: Statins and ACE inhibitors
(8) 成功案例（由實驗室到臨床）; Successful stories of drug molecules: Development from bench to clinical use

課程目標 |
This course intends to provide an introduction of several blockbuster drugs (such as penicillin and aspirin) and their historic developments. Students are asked to understand the modes of actions (instead of memorizing the drug names), and what they can contribute (if they join the pharmaceutical industry in the future) as a chemist, biochemist or biologist. |

課程要求 |
Anyone is qualified for taking this course if either one of the conditions applies at least: (1) anyone who took or is taking the courses of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry; (2) anyone who passed the course of Advanced Chemical Biology I or Advanced Chemical Biology II. |
